About Central England
Sometimes called The Midlands, Central England is positioned in the middle of the country, and is home to the UK’s second biggest city, Birmingham, which developed a flourishing social, arts and culture scene.
Imbued in art, history, and culture, the region also is of stark contrasts with Cotswolds and Shropshire, Lincolnshire and the Peak District showcasing the rustic idyll charm, the cities of Birmingham and Coventry, Nottingham and Derby combines modern history with all the attractions of urban modernisation.
The city covers a wide area comprising of Britain’s second largest city, Birmingham, Yorkshire and William Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon.
Central England is a finance, banking, and insurance major centre hosting such centuries-old bodies such as the Bank of England (1694), Lloyd’s (1688), and the London Stock Exchange (1773), with more recent additions..
Tourism also plays a significant role in England’s economy. The country’s attractions appeal to a wide variety of interests, from its rich architecture, archaeology, arts, and culture to its horticulture and scenic landscape.
