Education for Children
Singapore’s education system is considered one of the best in the world. International students studying at Singaporean institutions consistently rank at the top of the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
Children commence their schooling in preschool where they attend until the age of 6. This is followed by 6 years of primary school.
On completion of primary school, there a range of options on how to proceed on to secondary school. Options include:
- to attend a normal secondary school,
- select a specialised school,
- opt for an express school (where students graduate in 4 years rather than the regular 5),
- or a privately funded school which offers similar education.

As Singapore strives to become and innovation-driven economy, news skills and competencies are in high demand. The Singaporean government supports adult learning through various initiatives including the SkillsFuture programme.
